What does EU AI Act training cost?
From free to several hundred euros per person: prices for AI literacy training vary widely. This guide sorts the formats, works through examples for 50, 100 and 500 people and shows what Art. 4 actually requires.
Training and overview in one
from €24.69 per person (net, no subscription): your team learns in 26 languages, each person receives a certificate documenting participation and the passed quiz, and you can see at any time who has been trained.
What does EU AI Act training cost per employee?
In our review of online formats from the German-speaking market, prices range from €0 to around €490 per person. Free online courses are offered by public learning platforms and in some cases by regional chambers of commerce. Basic e-learning costs around €8 to €50, e-learning from academies and testing organisations usually €49 to €85, with some offers above that. Live online formats with fixed dates cost around €89 to €490 per person.
AI-Konform costs €29.75 to €45.50 per person depending on the country, net and as a one-off payment; with the savings plan the price falls to as little as €24.69. That puts the training in the range of basic e-learning. Billing is in euros, in some countries in the local currency at the stored exchange rate. All country and package prices are on the Pricing page.
Which formats are there?
The ranges come from a review of public provider websites in the German-speaking market, in euros. They show what a format typically costs and how much time each person needs for it:
| Format | Price per person (net) | Time per person | Typical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free online course | €0 | short units of up to 8 hours | Some with a certificate of achievement. You keep track of your team yourself. |
| Basic e-learning | around €8 to €50 | 45 to 60 minutes | Tiered pricing by number of participants, licence usually 1 year. |
| E-learning from academies and testing organisations | usually €49 to €85, some offers above that | 20 to 130 minutes | Well-known brand; company licences usually negotiated individually. |
| Live online format (seminar or course with fixed dates) | around €89 to €490 | 1 to 10 hours plus scheduled sessions | Questions answered live; the dates have to suit everyone. |
As of October 2026, based on a review of public provider websites in the German-speaking market; prices in euros, net. Several providers only give their price on request. Online formats were reviewed; no comparable prices were available for in-person seminars and in-house days.
A free course can also be a suitable measure, because Art. 4 does not prescribe a particular format. The difference usually lies in the organisation: with free courses you record yourself who completed which course and when.
What is included in the price?
Prices can only be compared if the scope matches. Watch for these points:
- Term: Many licences run for one year. Check whether a refresher costs extra.
- Proof: Is there a confirmation or certificate per person, with date and content?
- Overview: Can you see for the whole company who has been trained and who is still missing, or do you collect confirmations yourself?
- Languages: Most offers in this market are in German, some also in English. If people in your team have another mother tongue, check whether they can learn in their own language.
- Tiers: Volume discounts and company licences are often available only from a certain number of participants or only by individual arrangement.
With AI-Konform the scope is the same for every billing model:
- EU AI Act training with 4 lessons and quiz, in around 30 to 60 minutes
- Certificate per person: documents participation and the passed quiz, valid for 1 year
- Compliance score and overview for management
- Audit report as CSV or PDF, usable for Vanta and ISO 27001 audits
- 26 languages: all 24 official EU languages plus Norwegian and Icelandic
- One-off payment per training, no subscription; training credit does not expire
What does it cost for 50, 100 or 500 people?
Worked examples using AI-Konform prices for zone 2 (for example Germany and Ireland), net and as a one-off payment:
| People | Training credit (€35 per person) | Savings plan total | Savings plan per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | €1,750 | €1,697 | €33.94 |
| 100 | €3,500 | €3,255 | €32.55 |
| 500 | €17,500 | €14,525 | €29.05 |
In zone 1, for example in Luxembourg, the training costs €45.50 per person; in zone 3, for example in Croatia and Slovenia, €29.75; the savings plans are adjusted accordingly. Billing is in euros, in some countries in the local currency at the stored exchange rate. All country and package prices are on the Pricing page.
What you pay on the market for a larger team depends heavily on tiered pricing: basic e-learning gets cheaper as the number of participants grows, while academies and testing organisations usually agree company licences individually.
How high is the internal effort?
Besides the licence price, what counts is the working time your employees spend in the training. For a team of 100 people:
| Format | Time per person | Working time for 100 people |
|---|---|---|
| Compact e-learning (including AI-Konform) | 30 to 60 minutes | 50 to 100 hours |
| Free online course | short units of up to 8 hours | up to 800 hours |
| Live online format | 1 to 10 hours plus scheduled sessions | 100 to 1,000 hours |
Then there is the organisation: distributing access, reminding people of open trainings, collecting confirmations, training new employees and showing who has been trained during audits or customer questionnaires. With AI-Konform you invite your team once. Employees start with an access code without an account of their own, the certificate is created automatically once the quiz is passed, and the audit report summarises all completions. How this works is shown on the How it works page.
One task stays with you: you add the introduction to the AI systems your company actually uses internally. Art. 4 requires technical knowledge, experience and the context of use to be taken into account.
What does Art. 4 really require?
Since 27 July 2026, Art. 4 of the EU AI Act requires providers and deployers to take measures to support the development of AI literacy among their staff and other persons dealing with the operation and use of AI systems on their behalf. Account must be taken of technical knowledge, experience, education and training and the context of use. They do not have to guarantee a specific level of AI literacy.
For the costs this means:
- Art. 4 prescribes neither a particular training course nor a format or a certificate. A free course or an internal briefing can also be a suitable measure.
- Art. 4 contains no express documentation obligation. Documentation still helps if you later want to show which measures you took.
- The EU AI Act provides no fine range of its own for Art. 4. Sanctions are set by the Member States (Art. 99(1)); these may be fines, warnings or non-monetary measures. More on the fines page.
A paid solution therefore mainly brings organisation: an overview of the whole team, a record per person that documents participation and the passed quiz, and training in the language of your employees. Whether that is worth the price to you depends on team size, languages and your audit requirements. The obligation is explained in detail on the page Art. 4: AI literacy obligation. How the training works, with a quiz and a certificate for each person, is shown on the page EU AI Act training course.
